A Powerful Tool for Lawyer Referrals

What is the best way to get lawyer referrals? Most lawyers take the easy way—they send a generic letter asking for referrals. This is very ineffective and a waste of paper. A far more effective approach is to give value without asking for anything.

Albany, NY injury lawyer, Patrick Higgins, Esq., mails a quarterly update regarding evidence and procedure to New York lawyers. The ten-page update is full of case summaries from recent appeals and alerts lawyers to changes in New York’s statutory and case law. I always read Patrick’s update for one reason: it is content-rich and useful for my practice (therein lies the secret to effective lawyer-to-lawyer marketing).

Patrick’s simple (but brilliant) update is a great way to stay top of mind with his referral sources and those he wants to turn into referral partners and if nothing else, positions himself as an authority. The update is a win-win for Patrick and his referral partners.

Every lawyer should be following Patrick’s lead!
