Why Every Plaintiff’s Lawyer Should Outsource Medical Records Retrieval, Lien Resolution, and Case Expense Financing

Personal injury law firms can be challenging to manage, given the legal complexities and emotional toll that cases can take on clients. In this video, I share three tips that have helped my law firm manage and market effectively.

Tip 1: Outsource Lien Resolution

Almost every personal injury case comes with a lien, which can be from Medicare, Medicaid, or the state. Our firm prefers to outsource lien resolution to a company called Precision Resolution in Buffalo, New York. The company has a team of attorneys and case managers who do an excellent job of handling lien resolution. They got a $364,000 lien eliminated in one case, which had been settled for $900,000. Outsourcing lien resolution has been one of the best things our firm has ever done. It frees up time and money, the results are incredible, and the clients pay the cost at the end of the case, making it a win-win for everyone involved.

Tip 2: Outsource Medical Record Retrieval

Retrieving medical records can be time-consuming and cumbersome for personal injury law firms. I recommend outsourcing this task as well. Our firm uses two companies, Chart Squad in Utah and Records On Time in Providence, Rhode Island, to handle the medical record retrieval process. Records On Time integrates with their case management software, Smart Advocate, and does everything from requesting to uploading the records electronically. The cost is $35 per request, and it takes an average of 15 to 20 days to get the records. The client pays the cost at the end of the case, making it another win-win situation.

Tip 3: Acquire Case Financing

Finally, I highly recommend working with Advocate Capital in Nashville, Tennessee, to free up money for case expenses. Advocate Capital finances all of their active files, freeing up cash flow for the firm. Clients pay the borrowing cost at the end of the case, which is ethical and permitted in every state. This has been a godsend to our law firm, as case expenses can run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and they don't have to worry about paying them until the end of the case.

Conclusion

Managing a personal injury law firm can be challenging, but with these three tips, it can become more manageable. Outsourcing lien resolution, medical record retrieval, and financing case expenses can free up time and money for the firm, making it easier to focus on the legal complexities of each case. By following these tips, personal injury law firms can manage and market themselves more effectively.
